The Sea Harrier Simulator is a cutting-edge aviation experience built inside a real Sea Harrier FA2 cockpit, combining authentic electro-mechanical systems with modern technology to create one of the most immersive flight experiences ever designed.

Because the original Sea Harrier FA2 used electro-mechanical gauges, we can interface those instruments directly with our custom-built simulator software. This allows each gauge to move in perfect synchrony with what the pilot sees in the simulation. Using servo motors and digital controls, everything from the airspeed indicator to the engine dials becomes part of a living, responsive cockpit.

We are also connecting the original flying controls, pedals, and throttle, and adding force feedback to simulate the true handling feel of the aircraft. Visitors won’t just see the flight — they’ll feel every turn, every drop, every launch from the deck.

Using augmented and virtual reality, visitors will first be guided through the controls by an AR overlay that highlights key instruments and settings. They will then don a modified pilot helmet equipped with VR goggles and immerse themselves in a mission: launching from a carrier deck, completing a circuit above the ocean, and executing a vertical landing back on the ship.

The entire cockpit is supported by a custom cradle and mounted to a hydraulic motion simulation rig. As the visitor flies, the cockpit will move in sync with their inputs — tilting, shaking, and pitching in real time to reflect the aircraft’s attitude and motion.

The simulator will be fully mobile, housed in a dedicated trailer pod towed by a truck, allowing us to bring the Sea Harrier experience to schools, STEM events, airshows, tech expos, and town centres across the UK and beyond.

With only one Sea Harrier currently flying anywhere in the world, this simulator is the closest most people will ever get to piloting this legendary aircraft. From the moment you step into the cockpit, surrounded by original gauges, switches, and controls — to the moment you feel the rumble of the simulated launch — this experience brings the Sea Harrier to life in a way no museum display ever could.
